Welcome to NBYO
The Northern Beaches Youth Orchestra (NBYO) is a community symphony orchestra located on Sydney's Northern Beaches, welcoming upper primary and high school students performing at or above an AMEB Grade 3 standard (or equivalent).

NBYO is part of the Northern Beaches Orchestra family, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing opportunities for both professional and amateur musicians on the Northern Beaches to excel musically, enriching the cultural life of the local community. Pathways are available for youth orchestra members to transition into the Northern Beaches Orchestra through consultation
 with conductors within the organisation.

​At NBYO our mission is to inspire a love of music and provide enriching performance opportunities that foster musical growth and community connection.

NBYO Conductors
BEC HILDEBRANDT graduated from UTS in 1995 with a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Music and Science. She has taught at various schools, including Oxford Falls Grammar, Roseville College, Our Lady of the Rosary (Waitara) and Terrey Hills Public School. Additionally, she has worked as a Music Mentor for the Australian Youth Orchestra, supporting music teachers across various Sydney schools.

Currently, Bec is a Music Teacher at St Luke’s Grammar School, where she directs several ensembles and coordinates instrumental programs. She is also a percussionist in the Northern Beaches Orchestra. Beyond music, she enjoys teaching public speaking, debating, coding and robotics and loves being a mum to her two children. Bec views teaching music as a profound privilege and is proud to be part of the Northern Beaches Orchestra family.

JANINE BOUBBOV a cellist from Cairns, studied in Canberra, Frankfurt and Berlin and held two positions in professional orchestras in Germany before returning to Sydney to settle. After enjoying frequent engagements with both Sydney Symphony and the Opera Australia Orchestra, as well as having been on the teaching staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian Institute of Music, and several private schools in Sydney.

Janine has now turned her attention to sharing her love of music with children and currently holds the position of Head of Performing Arts at the German International School, Sydney. She enjoys playing with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and relishes the opportunity to play chamber music with fellow passionate musicians.
